Designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, Fukusumi exudes a timeless calm—and it’s in the heart of this landscape that MAGNUM COFFEE quietly blends into its surroundings, as if it had always belonged.
昔の中でいまを楽しむ
長年放置されボロボロだった建物を改装した「MAGNUM COFFEE」は、木の柱や梁がそのまま残され、陽の光がすっと差し込むやわらかな空間。古さがそのまま魅力になっていて、どこか懐かしく、でも決して古臭くはない。焙煎機のあるカウンターからは、コーヒー豆が焼ける香ばしい香り。無垢のテーブルに腰をおろして一息つくと、まるで旅の途中でふと見つけた隠れ家のような気持ちになる。奥の壁にはオーナーが旅先で集めたアンティークがさりげなく飾られ、カップを傾ける時間さえ丁寧にしてくれる。窓越しに見える町並みと相まって、「何もない」が心地いい、そんな場所。
香ばしく丁寧にローストされた豆で淹れる一杯は、深みがあるのにすっと飲めて、心に余白ができるような味わい。カフェ利用はもちろん、ドリップバッグや豆の購入だけに立ち寄る常連も多いという。

MAGNUM COFFEE was once a dilapidated building, left untouched for years. Now lovingly renovated, it retains its original wooden beams and pillars, with soft sunlight pouring into a space that feels warm and gentle. The age of the building isn’t hidden—it’s embraced as part of its charm. There’s something nostalgic here, but nothing feels old-fashioned. From the counter where the roaster quietly hums, the toasty aroma of coffee beans fills the air. Sit down at a solid wooden table, and you’ll feel as though you’ve stumbled upon a hidden hideaway in the middle of your journey. On the back wall, antique items collected by the owner during their travels are displayed casually, yet thoughtfully—adding richness to the time spent with a single cup. Through the window, the historic townscape unfolds, creating a quiet space where “nothing” feels just right.
Each cup, brewed with carefully roasted beans, is smooth yet deep—leaving room to breathe, both literally and emotionally. Some visitors come to sit and stay, while others swing by just to grab a bag of beans or a few drip bags. Either way, it’s the kind of place that quietly draws you back.

バイカーやドライブ途中の人たちがよく訪れるのも頷ける。国道173号沿いという立地に加え、町全体に漂う「静かだけど退屈じゃない」空気が、旅の途中にぴったりなのだ。古民家の合間には工房や宿泊施設も点在していて、創作の熱量と昔ながらの風景が共存する町を、少し歩くだけでも何かを見つけた気持ちになれる。
